Verona Red Marble in Verona

Verona Red Marble is a compact limestone with a distinctive pinkish or brick-red color, often crossed by small veins and marine fossils. Quarried in the Lessini mountains around the city, it is one of the most recognizable materials in Veronese architecture. Since antiquity it has been used for columns, floors, staircases, and monumental decorations. Today it can also be found in small handcrafted objects such as paperweights, decorative tiles, candle holders, or tabletop sculptures.

Verona Red Marble is one of the materials that visually define the city. Many historic buildings, churches, and palaces use this stone, creating the warm tone that characterizes Verona’s urban landscape.
